Hello from Bakersfield CA

Postby BakersfieldHerd » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:12 pm

I run some sheep up out of Bakersfield and I can't remember now how I found this forum but would like to participate. Some of the others are too 'light weight' for me if that makes any sense. I kind of want to discuss serious LGD stuff not just ooh and ahh over cute puppy photos all day long. This forum sounds different so going to hang around here for awhile instead.

I have run Akbash mostly and some Great Pyrenees. I generally run between five and ten dogs at a time, including young pups. Really interested in those collars you are making, look really solid and sturdy. As my dogs are on big range something like this might come in handy. Mostly coyotes here but occasional mountain lion comes down and plays havoc with the sheep. Have lost two dogs in seven years to predators pretty good track record I think considering where I run and the circumstances.

Looking forward to reading more and posting. John E.

hello! I am just a tad bit east of Gorman. I can talk both... serious or fluffy puppy, livestock guardian to pet. I am interested in your experiences, especially running so many dogs together. I have had 10 dogs and found every so often they get into more then just a tiff, though I am sure it was because they were running on 40 acres and not over many acres.

Nice to meet you.
